2011 Santa Claus Parades

CDA had lots of fun participating in the Newmarket and Aurora Santa Claus parades. The dancers were very energetic as they entertained the crowd with their up-tempo dancing. Also the young dancers were very cheerful and enthusiastic on our float. With over 100 students participating the parade was CDA’s best yet!

2011 Halloween Party

On Saturday Oct 29th CDA hosted its annual Halloween Party! All the kids enjoyed the dancing, snacks, haunted house and witches brew! Special Thanks to all the students who helped make the event a smashing success!

Jordan Clark visits CDA!!

Jordan Clark, winner of SYTYCD Canada Season 4 recently visited CDA for a surprise workshop! The students were inspired by Jordan's story of hard work and perserverance, and learned lots from her amazing contempoaray choreography.

CDA Open House & Charity BBQ

The 2011 CDA Open House & Charity BBQ was a great success.CDA raised lots of money for the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. There was great food, great stories, dance performances, and a visit from regional regional councillor John Taylor! It was a great way to kick off the CDA dance season!

So You Think You Can Dance Workshops

CDA's 2011 Intensive Competitive Camp was a great week for our competitive team to train and bond for the 2012 season. The two weeks featured multiple guest choreorgraphers including workshops from Jesse Weafer and Joey Arrigo from So You Think You Can Dance Canada. The students learned a lot from their instruction and were inspired by thier stories.

Also during the camps there were workshops from Karissa Lee from the Toronto Raptors Dance Pack, and professional choroegrapher Marjoire Celis.

Chantal's Dance Academy performs for Residents

The girls at Chantal's Dance academy made their way through the snow and slush to Newmarket's Clock Tower Inn Retirement Residence as well as 3 other residences. The kids in the recreational program came out to perform some of their favourite numbers for the residents which brought tons of smiles, a few tears and lots of good cheer. The girls used this opportunity not only to put on a show for the residents, but also for the chance to practice for their upcoming recital, helping to clear away any stage jitters. The evening was a huge success and everyone there had a wonderful time. See more photos here.

2011 Competative Team Gala

The 2011 Competitive Team held their annual gala at Newmarket Theatre on Feb. 18. It was a great opportunity for dancers and parents to socialize and gave the team a chance to perform their completive numbers in costume and before a live audience. The formal catered event was a complete success drawing rave reviews from all who attended. The show also featured a special performance from Jesse Weafer, contestant from So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Thanks to the many parents and CDA Staff who helped make the show so wonderful and thanks to the students who put on a fantastic show!

2010 Recitals

Our 2010 Recitals are now over. They were a great success! Thank you parents, teachers, volunteers, and especially dancers for a job well done!

Here are some comments from our wonderfull parents.

It was an excellent weekend! Everything came together and there were so many volunteers! This actually made it easier Saturday when I volunteered. A big 'Thank you' to you and all the staff for an excellent end to the year

Have a great summer and pass on our best to everyone at CDA...we had a great year and Paige is looking forward to the more dancing in the Fall.

My daughter was in Miss Valerie's primary ballet class and she loved her first recital. My family and I were extremely impressed with the recital, especially the talents of the dancers.

Thank you so much for a great year and a wonderful recital.

Open House at New CDA Studios in Newmarket

CDA celebrated the grand opening of the new studio in Newmarket with a very successful Open House. Many dancers performed their routines to parents and potential new students while enjoying some light refreshments. A good time was had by all. CDA At Star Catchers Ajax 2010

Competitive Team Star Catchers April 2010

The Competitive team was recently at Star Catchers in Ajax. For most it was the first outing of the 2010 competitive season. The CDA team won many awards and received valuable comments from the competition's adjudicators.

CDA Performs at Park Place Manor

Dancers from CDA performed at Park Place Manor Residence on Monday night. A good time was had by all.

I know the residents really enjoyed themselves tonight. The kids were very entertaining and a real pleasure to watch. They are like a breath of fresh air.

Our new studio is located in a convenient Plaza with lots of parking, close to shopping, coffee, and easy for drop off and pick up.

Coming soon to our new studio in Newmarket the CDA Pro Shop. The Pro Shop carries a complete selection of leotards, tights, tank tops, bike shorts, dance pants, ballet skirts, CDA t-shirts (long sleeve & short sleeve), ballet sweaters, dance bags, ballet shoes, Tap and jazz shoes. Dance shoes do need to be fitted so please bring your child with you when you come for this purchase. We do not sell pointe shoes.

Students and teachers from the CDA Newmarket Studio appeared in the Newmarket Santa Claus Parade Saturday Nov 21. Afterwards many participants warmed up with hot chocolate at the studio. Thanks to everyone for attending and to the parent and teacher helpers.
